Synopsis

Tarik is an 11-year-old kid who helps his father transport illegal immigrants into the Netherlands. When an accident occurs, Tarik gets a chance to gain the acknowledgment from his father he has always yearned for, but at a high price - the loss of his own innocence.

Dutch filmmaker Shady El-Hamus is interested in human beings, human stories and stories that appeal on a universal level. He enrolled at the Netherlands Film and Television Academy in 2008 to study screenwriting. There, besides writing a lot of short screenplays, he soon realizes he is longing for more and starts directing.
Shady graduates from the Netherlands Film Academy in 2012 as screenwriter/director. He writes "Magnesium" which is directed by Sam de Jong, and writes and directs "About sons". At the 2012 Netherlands Film Festival "Magnesium" was awarded Best Student Film and for both films, Shady has awarded the Dioraphte Award for most outstanding talent. "Magnesium" got selected for the 2013 edition of the Sundance Film Festival – as many other international film festivals, and was the Dutch entry for the 2013 Student Oscar.
From January 2015 Shady has graduated from the prestigious MA Directing Fiction Course at the National Film and Television School in Beaconsfield, United Kingdom. His graduation film "Fairuz" - starring acclaimed Palestinian actor Mohammad Bakri – premiered at the 2015 Dubai International Film Festival as part of the Main Competition.
In 2015 Shady has directed the first season (ten 25min episodes) of a light-hearted TV-Series in the Netherlands. His latest short film "Nightshade" (2017) has been selected at Oscar qualifying Encounters Festival, Clermont-Ferrand Int. Short Film Festival, Leeds Int. Film Festival, Busan Int. Short Film Festival. Shady is now developing his first feature film.

Il regista olandese Shady El-Hamus è interessato agli esseri umani, alle storie umane e alle storie di richiamo universale.
